Thanks to Shirley Bierkamp and her training services in helping LK9P&T with the rewarding venture of training dogs who are sitting in the shelter waiting to be adopted. She provides professional dog training for our shelter dogs, as well as providing guidance for the volunteers to learn the best methods for fear free training.
Volunteers walk and spend time playing with the shelter dogs. This gives them some comfort and contact outside their pens. Other volunteer efforts include brain engagement and enrichment programs. Experienced trainer, Gretchen Farrell, helps by providing scent work games and trick training that helps lower the stress of the shelter dogs. Which also helps them find their FUR-ever home.
